An Angel's Golden Feather,

I am not sure if I really believe in Angels, but I think I do.

On Christmas Night, Gom was at death's door.

As I sat vigil, so fearful he would die, I looked out the window of his hospital room and say a golden curled feather, floating on the breeze? the updraft? the pull of the building?

I have no idea what kept the golden feather aloft, as it bobbed and floated before the window.

Up it came, and danced and floated, and slowly disappeared and reappeared.

It vanished for moments, and I thought of an Angel;s wing.

It was a feather from somewhere, that looked like no feather I had ever seen on any bird.

Suddenly, when I thought it had vanished, it reappeared, to dance it's little ritual dance all over again.

I felt curiously comforted.

I finally decided to leave the Hospital, and trust in the Staff, and, perhaps, a Golden Winged Angel,  to save Gom's life.

He was being tended by an Angel of a Nurse, who was the most gentle and caring person I have ever met. I hope I see her again.

He was saved, by whatever miracle, and forces,  and the hard work,  of wonderful Staff for the whole of that hideous night, as he hovered so close to death.

He made it through that awful night. He is still here, and I keep thinking of that Golden Feather.

We hope he will be home soon after New Year.

He is improving now, after another proceedure today, which seemed to go very well.

As you may guess, our Christmas is one we never wish to repeat.

Oh Meggie - I am so sorry to hear that you have had such a horrible time and that GOM has been so ill. I do hope he will be home again soon with you. I am sure there is more than we can evr understand at work in the world and maybe it was an angel who knows. I had something strange happen back when my mother died - I bought a small bunch of roses two days later as it would have been her birthday and they were in tight bud. They never really opened properly but then again they didn't die either and I had those flowers for a couple of years still coloured although very dry until on day they finally fell apart but for me they told of my mother's spirit still with me or something like that! As I say I think there is much we don't know or understand and who is to say what it all means but if it gave you comfort then I am glad. Let us know how GOM goes on won't you? Let's hope 2011 will prove to be a good year for you both.

What a beautiful story---I DO believe in angels...and I do believe that was an angel comforting you and letting you know that you were not alone. We are here ... and we are there, waiting with you ... gathered close around you .... wrapping both of you in healing hugs....

I have no doubt that it was an angel but at any rate it is good that you were comforted and re-assured. I am sorry to read of Gom's poor health and that you had to go through such a harrowing night. May you both find sustenance and peace in God and through His angels. God bless.

I am so sorry to hear this. That was indeed an angel sent just for you and your GOM..... Take care of yourself as the nurses are taking care of GOM. He will be in your charge soon.

My goodness Meggie that really is not the best way to spend Xmas eh? Before Gom comes home I suggest a day of pampering for you. Treat yourself sweetie, even if it's just a lie in or soak in the bath. Do something for yourself before you need to become a nursemain albeit a willing one.
god bless hope everything continues to improve.

Oh Meggie, I am so sorry to read this, but so thankful Gom is doing better. I know just what you must have gone through sitting there watching him. Thank God, and His angel he survived. And the medical staff too. Look after yourself, my friend. Lots of love

Such news! Even if you don't believe in angels, you now believe in golden feathers - I like the idea that you and GOM were being watched over. Hope he progresses and so sorry that you had to endure such a thing at Christmastime.

Sounds as though one angel was flapping so hard that a feather fell off the wing....that's what we want to believe, so that is what we will believe. The flapping worked, because Gom made it through the night. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Dear Meggie, what an awful time for you and Gom. I do so hope he makes a good recovery, and that the golden feather continues to float and hover around you both. such an anxious and painful time you've been having. I am thinking of you with love.

My dear Meggie,
Sending you and GOM a big hug- May 2011 bring you many good healthy days to enjoy together.
In my school the golden feather is a symbol of citizenship. It has four parts- honesty, integrity, respect and humility. They are the attitudes and values that we encourage our students to aim for as people.
I love your symbolism and find the floating feather beautiful.
May you continue to feel comfort and support from the feather.
Warmest regards,
Anna

Dear Meg, firstly some "Get Well Wishes," for Gom. Please passs them on to him.
Secondly a big hug for you. That must have been frightning for you. No doubt you had that awful useless feeling knowing you can't change things, but I am sure your presence was reassuring to him.
May many more fluttering feathers be with you.
You are both in my thoughts this last day of the year.

Meg, I am so sorry to read what a horrible Christmas time you've had. I am sending GOM lots of get well wishes, and hoping that the New Year sees an improvement for you both. I think you were very blessed to see that feather - someone or something was letting you know it was 'there' for you ... that's what I believe anyway. Thinking of you ... don't forget to take care of you, as well as taking care of GOM. :) xx

Dear Meg - support and comfort come in many forms, often unexpectedly. So many things we don't understand but little signs can so often signal positive outcomes.

The fact that this golden feather made you feel better and brought you comfort, and even the confidence that your husband may improve during the night, is a little miracle in itself.

Blessings too on his angelic nurse. I hope he continues to feel better and have some more precious time with you.

Big hugs.
