Someone sent me the email, letting us all know that Tweety is now 60 years old!
Do you know, I feel just the way he looks!
I just can't seem to prod myself into life. I had a wonderful suprise phone call from BFJ, (who is Best Friend J). She lives in Auckland, & she was testdriving her new phone.
It was so lovely to have a nice long talk with her. They get such great deals on phone calls there... much better than we get.
This time last year, I was in New Zealand, & I got to spend the day of her birthday with her, & her lovely granddaughters. I also got to see both of her children, & it is amazing to see them now, adults, just as my children are. It brought back memories of when they were small, & BFJ & I were both pregnant with our 2 youngest.
Her son was born first, and for some reason we had been convinced we were having opposite sex children, & it proved to be true. I was so thrilled when my daughter was born, & she is now BFJ number 2!
I have had really good intentions on the sewing front, I even got as far as selecting fabrics for a new quilt top. It all awaits the cutting. I had a very sore back all day yesterday, with painkillers doing little to relieve the pain.
This morning passed with a certain scouring around of the kitchen... we no longer have children... where do those piggy black fingerprints come from?? The sticky edge on the pantry door? The spilt something, on the floor?
Of course it is not Gom! It must be the dogs.
I dreamt last night that Leo came in with a mouse, so I took it off him, & he promptly came in with another! We have seen no evidence of any mice, so I don't know where that dream came from. I wish it meant we were about to have great windfalls of good fortune! haha.
Speaking of which, it seems I have won some millions of American Dollars which have been deposited in a Bank in England. The "FBI" contacted me, via email, to let me know of this great good fortune, & all I have to do, is forward 250 pounds sterling to the Bank in England, to allow transfer of my monies to be paid here to me.
As if!!
Apparently, it is surprising how many people fall for this type of scam, & one man had to be rescued from capture in Sth Africa, where he had gone to try to retrieve his money. The crooks kidnapped him, & held him to ransom, for even more money! I think the Australian Govt had to step in, to get him released.
I also had a very attractive off of making huge amounts of money-"just sitting in your chair!" I have no idea what that would have been, but I was assured I would not have to spend a cent, & the homebase for that little scam in somewhere in Hong Kong.
As I noted, a lot of these scammers seem to have very bad grammar, & little errors in their phrasing are also a dead giveaway. Apparently they are becoming more skilled though, & as Lee once pointed out, it is relatively easy to learn a lot about people if they use the internet, or have blogs or join Facebook.
While thinking of Facebook I must be getting rather old. I dont really 'get' it, & can't be bothered sharing intimate details with people I neighther know nor care about. I have joined to see family news, & enjoy seeing & reading family, & some friends. On the whole, I could live without it, though.
We seem to have had a somewhat wet April. Usually our Autumn is lovely but this year has seen a very mixed bag of weather come our way. I find myself yearning for comfort foods, & good old casseroles even though it is not yet winter.
The lack of energy is a worry though, & the lack of direction. Now that I need to be the driver, I find I feel less & less like driving. It is a pity we dont know some idle young man, who would love to drive us about... in the manner to which I would love to become accustomed!
Steely Dan
Reelin in the Years. Nostalgia! Look at those clothes!

Oh Dear! If that is what tweety looks like I wonder how Sylvester the cat is faring...
Tweety can't be 60....no way!
It's not just you with the facebook 'thing' - I don;t get it either. And I also don;t twitter or tweet or whatever it is.
I am so out of the loop....
Just think! Sylvester has been going hungry for 60 years!
Enjoyed the rest of the post.
I don't 'get' Facebook either. I'm sure I must be missing something as I know some perfectly nice, good, intelligent people who think it wonderful. But it eludes me.
x
I don't know why, but the picture of Tweetie...shocked me a bit.
I couldn't agree more with you on facebook Meggie. I am not on it I tell you and I have survived just fine without it :)
Have a great week
xoxo
Weren't we lucky to grow up during such an explosion of good music??
Yep, can understand the lack of motivation.
steely dan used to figure high on my play list back then!
poor old Tweety - that's how I feel some days, too! As for lack of energy and direction, I've noticed these things seem to come in cycles. I'll send any idle young man I find your way ;)
No, I don't understand the appeal of Facebook either. I have an account and put photos up for my mother to see and that's about it. I always feel very exposed on there and the stupid competitions or whatever they are really annoy me.
But I love Twitter.
As for the scams - it always amazes me that anyone would fall for them.
I hear you on all fronts about the lack of direction and motivation...
Facebook? I have an account, but rarely sign in. It is great for keeping in touch with my children the once in a while when they are traveling the world, otherwise everything else on there is a terrible nuisance.... the devil as my friend used to call it... until she got sucked in... big time!!! lol!
Scams, I can't see how some people get sucked into things that they themselves have not entered their own name... baffles me...
Poor Tweety... I too feel how he looks... 8-(
Hope you get your mojo for quilting soon... 8-)
That Tweety put a smile on my face. I find it amazing that people actually fall for those emails from ????banks.
Have a great rest of the week.
That Tweety picture is SO funny -- thanks for the laugh. I have a facebook account but rarely sign on -- I use it to spy on my children ;-). And my mom complains constantly about all the dirty smudge marks my dad leaves all over the house!
Meggie, as luck would have it I have also just won several million Euros (about 900,000 to be exact)in a lottery that I haven't yet bought a ticket. Perhaps you and I shluld go on a raod trip round NZ (or italy or wherever takes our fancy) and we can beat the Tweety Blues! I'll find us a nice young man to do the driving....
He looks rather sad doesn't he.
The thing that worries me with those scams is that they will work on vulnerable people, like someone with mild mental disabilities for example.
I still enjoy Steely Dan.
I am rapidly becoming the anti-Facebook/Twitter blogger. I hate both.
I have a spacebook... just got it recently... and you are one of my friends...my grandchildren are all asking me to be their friends... I'm just as lost over there as I can be... they are trying to teach me...LOL
And my neighbor asked me to join twitter.. maybe one day...
Hmph. I've confess I've become a bit of a blog vampire, slurping away at the contents of your blog but never commenting. Shame on me!
I adore the Tweety photo you found! Poor fellow, though. Can you imagine being caged for all those years? We have a parakeet who was caged for ten years, and when we encouraged him to come out and stretch his wings, he was terrified. Neurotic, and so fat he had bulges between his legs. He could only fly about five feet before losing his breath and landing. It took months to work through all of his issues.
I am gradually warming to Facebook. It turns out that one can fiddle around and create different "groups" of friends, and control what each group is able to see. Videos, for example. I have some movies of my son up so his grandparents can see them, but they're posted in such a way others aren't troubled with them. I didn't have another good way to do that. Mainly, though, I do like the blog and my blog friends.
I'm sorry about the lack of energy. Depression, the anti-itching meds, a natural pause in the action? I wish you well.
Enjoyed the candids...love the Tweety...and by odd coincidence, I wound up at this very same Steely Dan video a few days back when I was browsing some of their music for keyboard lessons for my son (yeah this one is more guitar riff based...but I had to show it to him anyways). And it does seem blogging has lost quite a cadre to Facebook and Twitter, doesn't it? Just do whatever makes you happy about posting...it's the only way.
