Reprise ...

I am cheating here. I am just posting some of my favourite sky scapes. I took these pics over the past 8-9 months of the ever changing sky from my balcony.

I think the one above is one of my all time favourites. I just love the dramatic swirls of the clouds & the colours. This may not be the best of my pics of this, but it seems to be the one I have selected!
And this one, above, seems to have an eye spying down upon the earth. What do you think??

I cannot help but think of bears, & children with the above pic!

And this seems so surreal. It was taken facing the eastern sky.

Another Eastern shot, showing the full moon on the horizon. There is always something mystical about the moon.

A whispy swirl... who knows what this denotes??

And this, fiery glow. Just another sunrise, though it looks so dramatic...

Or another gentle promise of days to come...on the eveing's soft air...

And the "cloud boats float with sails agleam, on the sea of night", ... I remember a class mate singing that song, with a voice so pure & true, it took my breath away. And it has stayed with me for all my life...
I have always love music. We grew up hearing music from the Radio. An old Gulbransen, with a Magic Eye, for tuning in the stations. And a Shortwave bandk that brought many squeals of sound, & garbled voices from soundwaves, mysterious & unidentified. And my beloved Brother & I loved to play with it. Much to the disapproval of our Grandparents, who were the actual owners of the radio!
And I often wonder what happened to the old radio, with its lovely cabinet of inlaid woods. And that wonderful "Magic Eye".
We listened to a lot of classical music, which seemed to be prevalent. And our Mother hated Sopranos. "Screeching Hussies" she called them, & she cringed at the sound of their voices. I didnt share her hatred, & can appreciate their wonderful voices to this day.
Don McLean, Fools Paradise.

Those pictures are real eye candy :o) Thank you for making me smile and realize there will be brighter prettier days! Hugs from rainy Norway, where the sky at the moment is a greyish-milky colour...

Especially like the eye in the sky!

The sky is an endless source of beauty and change. THanks for sharing some of it. Did you get to see the meteor shower a couple of nights ago? I watched from bed which is in front of a bay window and saw some before I fell asleep. Also wonderful.

I see a figure with upstretched arms, where you see an eye.
It could be like one of those ink blot tests...

"Screeching hussies" made me laugh because it pretty much sums up what Mister Fixit thinks of opera. I like it though.

Beautiful Skyscapes. I LOVE clouds!

Lovely cloud pictures! The one with the unusual blue colors you named as your favorite, makes me think of glowing, exotic silks as does the gold one beneath it.

Love, love, love the cloud pics! I can remember lying on my back with my friends watching big puffy clouds float slowly by and making shapes with them, watching them shift and morph into new shapes. Sigh... so much fun. I, too, love the old radios... though I didn't get to experience them first hand. I remember listening to Orson Welle's famous recitation of War of the Worlds and imagining people gathered round their radios, terrified.

I love to see series of photos, on one subject. It's a great way to post photos.

Ah, the sounds from the old radios with their huge tubes inside and the static as one tuned in a station. My sister and I sat on the floor beside the console radio when we were 5 & 6 years of age and listened to it at times. That was BTV - before television came to our house.

Beautiful sky scenes. Now I'll have to get out and start doing more of those. :)

What gorgeous skyscapes! And perhaps I have an overactive imagination!, but I can see not only and eye, but a *face* in that photo of the thick bank of cloud.

I've never taken pictures of the sky. I guess I had better look up next time I'm out. I live in town and there are lots of trees so I rarely can see a sunrise or sunset, just a glow through the trees. I spent a lot of my childhood laying on my back staring at clouds with my brothers.

I could gaze at the ever-changing sky forever...

I still reckon you could make a coffee table book of your pics of that tree.

I have a book that I love dipping into. It's all about clouds and is called The Cloudspotter's Guide by Gavin Pretor-Pinney and I think it would be something you may enjoy!

Great photos Meggie.

Like Connie, Keryn and I used to lie in front of Dad's huge Stereogram and happily listen to Peter Paul and Mary singing "Puff the Magic Dragon"- it seemed amazing that there was all that music to be had just by twiddling a few knobs.

and I grew up ( I am 43) with blue hills on the radio - a bit of nostalgia for the aussies amongst us. You made me laugh with screeching hussies - what a classic line - grey and foggy up here today Meggie - the misty days are sometimes the best ones..
