Maybe I should give up this blogging lark. I have just discovered a blog that makes me feel all my writing is pedestrian scribble.

The blog is written by Lucy & in particular, a post titled 'Quiberon'.

I have been back to read it twice. I just love her command of words. A gift, talent, call it what you will.

And the photography - both hers, & her husband's, are wonderful.

Is it bad etiquette to recommend another blog? I hope not.
I do it purely out of admiration.

Meggie, if I was to stop blogging every time I read a beautiful post, I'd have given up ages ago! I love your writing and your memories and your photographs. Please keep them coming!

PS. I know you weren't fishing for compliments, but I had to tell you anyway! I'll go and "visit" Lucy this evening.

Lucy is one of my favorites but so are you, Meggie. The writing of both of you makes me want to hang my head. You are both so poetic and so sensitive. Please keep on keepin' on.

Ha! Now you know how I feel when I read your blog :) I really enjoy your stories, Meggie. I figure that there are two ways to look at good writing. Either we can throw our hands up and say we'll never be that good, and quit altogether, or we can figure out why we like it so much, and use that knowledge to improve our own skill. Now if only I could practice what I preach!!

hello meggie

Just write what you write I say. I'll read it. It was an interesting link, all about stones and rocks and things. That's why I put Soup du Jour in my sidebar - if I then find an interesting post as I do my daily read I drop it into the soup - usually asking if it's OK in the first instance.

No! You cannot consider stopping blogging Meggie. I just read your meme (your second turn!) and I have to say so much of what you write, just in that post, got me thinking about people, relationships, life's quirks and near misses. It's always like a nice, warm, thoughtful morning tea at your place Meggie :-)

Noooo, don't stop. Your blog is like a treasure chest of stories and while I don't always comment, I do love to read them.

Not at all - I have been to some blogs that seem to only report what is going on on the net and in blogs... Others do it on a "roundtuit" basis. I know one who notes things down on post-it notes & once she gets too many, she blogs about them... So you may see a funny post, a recipe and a pretty quilt in her "report."

Your blog is THE one I can depend on. You say, in a way that paints pictures, things that the rest of us cannot.
If you stop blogging for any reason, I will have to come down there and 'sort' you out..!

Meggie, I am honoured and flattered and utterly surprised!
I get that feeling all the time when I read other blogs, including when I found yours! Pedestrian scribble it ain't.
Another blogging friend, Annie, came up with a lovely image: that blog-writing is like a tree, you can just loaf around in the leafy green branches of envy of other people's, or you can start putting out leaves of your own to adorn your own bare branches. Only of course she said it much better than that!
I think the point of it is we can all afford to be generous and admire others, and all afford to excel, there are no winners and losers. There are people I admire hugely and wouldn't hope to come close to, and plenty more I just love for being who they are,and they don't need to be compared to anyone else.
I'm also chuffed to bits that with so many loyal and loving friends you've got time and space to add another one with me! Your comments were great and I'm really delighted to have you come to visit. Thanks ( sorry to be a bit slow getting back, I've been out in the sunshine all day and nowhere near the computer!)

Meggie, dearest, you mustn't stop -- you're far too entertaining! And whatever would we do without GOM??? And in my book, it's certainly wonderful to tell of an admired blog -- that's how we find out about each other!

Meggie, you have no reason to doubt yourself. I love your blog. The post about your brother is one I particularly remember. It was so honest and beautifully written.
Blogland would be a boring place if all the blogs were the same :-)

Thanks for recommending Lucy's blog; I'd think it's perfectly fine etiquette, much like recommending a book you enjoy.

Please don't quit blogging yourself, though. I love your stories.

Oh S&*t I cant begin to reply to your all. I have been very touched by your loyalty, & the percieved compliments.
I had to laugh about a 'plinky' comment about the music on blogs.
There is a stop button if it is not to your taste.
Myself, I love music of all sorts.

How did i miss this one?? I'm the other one in the corner with sMc, wearing a bag over my head when I feel all I'm doing is blathering away about nothing....but then a few days go by and I get inspired again. Don't stop Meggie. Your memories and musings are always an interesting read!
