This is the almost final version of this Autumn Quilt. I decided to go with the floral, & leave the slime green for another day.
This is really not as dull in the 'flesh' as it looks.
I did a little frog stitching to swap a couple of blocks around, & then more frogging when I discovered I had put two of the setting triangles in incorrectly. That was because I insisted on sewing when I was too tired!

As you can see, the corners are brown, I ran out of other colour choices, but I quite like these. It will be a good quilt for letting go, & really relaxing. Spilled your coffee? never mind, no one will notice! Or your wine or beer....

My head is filled with new ideas for my next project already... dare I begin another top, before I have quilted this??

We lunched out yesterday, to celebrate our Granddaughter's Birthday.
Silly Nanna forgot her camera. It was lovely,& we all positively waddled out of the Restaurant, having indulged to the MAX.
It is an All You Can Eat Buffet, with all types of food from, Chinese, soups, steamed dishes, garlic bread, Salads, seafood, to Roasts, with 3 types of yummy gravy! Something for everyone.

SG had a ball with icecream,& three types of topping with sprinkles!! The desserts are great, because they have really small servings, so you get to try a variety, if sweets are your 'thing'.They also have rice pudding, & bread & butter pudding... not my thing at all, but they are really popular!

Daughter J & Sil took SG home, & we stayed on with our Granddaughter for a while. It was lovely to spend some time with her. Nice to think she still finds her old 'grandies' good company. I did some fun people watching but that is for another day.

Bittersweet.

A farewell at the Airport. Ask a stranger to take a pic. (As you do).

This is a bit of a 'Lottery in Life' . The first man we asked, had a small child who actually beat his father on the rear end, thereby shaking the man's stance. I have not seen the results of those photos in an enlarged capacity. They did look very blurred in the small view.

I did feel the father showed remarkable restraint, as he was forcefully assaulted in a rear attack of some vicious force, from a sturdy, approximately, 4 year old! I would have leapt upon the child & possibley floored him!!

In the end, the lovely girl I approached, to use my camera, conceded to her father, & he proceeded to take 2 photos for me. Alas they are somewhat blurred also, but that could be because I had set the camera at the wrong setting!

BB, Meggie, Gom.

This, the late sunset after BB had gone.
A bowl of gold, reminding me of a Roy Orbison song, the lines of which, seemed to say it all....
"It's Over "
"Golden days, before they end,
Whisper secrets to the wind.
Your baby won't be near you any more.
Tender nights, before they fly,
Send falling stars that seem to cry.
Your baby doesn't want you any more.
It's over.
It breaks your heart in two,
To know she's been untrue.
But oh, what will you do,
When she says to you,
"There's someone new.
We're through.
We're through."
It's over, it's over, it's over.
All the rainbows in the sky
Start to weep and say good-bye.
You won't be seeing rainbows any more.
Setting suns, before they fall,
Echo to you, "That's all, that's all."
But you'll see lonely sunsets, after all.
It's over, it's over, it's over....
It's over.

Such sad images. I try to always remember they herald another day, which will possibley be golden & full of promise to be fulfilled.

This next series of skies may be out of sequence. None of them have been altered in any way, & they were all taken on the same evening.
I find the cloudbanks quite amazing. We did get some later rain from some of these clouds, but not enough!

No, they were not black & white photos, though they look as if they might have been....

Amanda, aka Sagittarian, at More Canterbury Tales, tagged me to reveal my most embarrassing Album purchase.

I have to say, in my defence, I bought it in error. Played it once & declared it null & void! Loathsome.

Please feel free to not listen on click!! It is ghastly in so many ways.

So many more pics which may bore or entertain.
As well as the word pics.. to come.
Roy Orbison, Only the Lonely

Distant Drums

I remember a song by Roy Orbison, called Distant Drums. It haunted me in a shattered, broken hearted, phase of my life, when I felt I could never recover, or ever live some kind of 'normal' life again.

Most of Roy Orbison's music did that to me, with his haunting voice, & pretty melodies. And though his is the voice of the darkest hours of my life, he is also still a favourite. Perhaps a reminder to me, I am stronger than I ever knew, & I survived, in spite of that being the last thing I wanted. ***

I saw an interview with Bob Geldof- it was before he was Sir- & he described how he felt that his heart had literally been broken in two inside his body, when Paula left him, and how great that pain felt. I know that feeling, & I have felt the pain of it. It is a real, physical pain, crippling, clouding, & more painful than mere physicality. Perhaps it could be described as a trial by fire, I dont know how to describe it with words.

This lovely rock. I noticed it in the garden some months ago, & have been meaning to take a pic of it ever since. I love the different colours in the lichens.

And here is a picture which suggests a serenity to me. The person is a keen fisherman, & unlike his brother, who also loves to fish, this brother also loves to eat his catches. It was taken in a beautiful part of the world, north of where we live.

And this gorgeous little boy. He had just been for a dip, & looks for all the world like he is thinking "I will just have a nap here, I seem to be sooo tired"
Another lovely part of the world, again north of us. A beautiful place to vacation, right on the water, & great for fishing.

This could be paradise! I love the colours in this shot taken at dusk. Mr Nice Neighbour enjoying the wonderful serenity.

It is raining lightly here today. People I love have left to go camping.
I hope they find happier weather for their 'tenting'.
The rain is so welcome for the gardens & everywhere, but of course it is not really what you need when camping.

I just wanted to add, if it hadn't been for the wonderful support & friendship of Best Friend J, I dont think I ever would have made it. I love you dearly as my friend BFJ!!
